Symptoms of Eczema

Knowing what the symptoms of eczema are is very important to the health of your skin. There are many different types of skin conditions you see, and many that are called eczema are also labelled as more specific conditions. There are also many skin problems that might not be linked to any specific condition but are one of problems. So let's have a closer look at some of the common symptoms of eczema!

Recurring Flare Ups - If these symptoms are reducing, in that they flare up, then go away and then come back again and again it is likely to be a specific condition. Some might just be persistent as well and never go away or only go away for a very short period.

Swelling of the Skin - Your skin may become inflamed and swell with various types of eczema. This can result in reddened, burning, lumpy skin that is warm and sore to touch and may even throb. This is quite common in eczema sufferers.

Pain - Not all eczema is painful, some just look and feel bad - but others might be very painful. This could be painful to touch, or it might be painful at all times depending on your particular condition and genetic makeup.

Scaly - The skin can become very scaly with eczema. Sometimes during an outbreak as the skin become cracked and dry and discoloured. Other times it gets scaly as a result of the dying down of a flare up as the swelling and infections subside.

Weeping Sores - Many children especially have been called names for looking like a leper because of the hideous weeping sores that can appear as a result of eczema. This is often not the eczema itself, but is a result of infection of the affected areas due to scratching or germs getting in under the skin. Fluids and pus can leak from blisters and sores during this infection.
